It truly is hard to smoke, even when your health is at risk, I've been diabetic for 3 years now and I still smoke. I shouldn't, but I can't stop myself.

I been there too. In the end, you quit when you are ready for it - you really need to have something there to push you over the edge. Remember this mantra: "It's the hardest thing in the world - but the best thing in the world for you."

I'm a few days away from week 4 myself! Go Rich. I have not been smoking for as long as you, but have been smoking a pack per day for about a year now. I hate it. I used to be really really physically active and now I don't have the energy.
Like digidave's quote says "Best thing in the world". I think cutting back on pop is helping as well. Word.

Great job and good luck! Don't let temptation get the best of you! I think the longest I went was 2 weeks, in the end, both of my parents smoking makes it hard, because I'm around it every day.

I had a kidney transplant at the age of 42. I had smoked a lot since I was 14. The doctors told me I should stop smoking when I had the transplant. So I did. No problem. What might have helped was that I couldn't get out of bed for about 5 days after the surgery. By then the urge to smoke was gone. Still reached for the imaginary pack in my shirt pocket for a few months, but never felt the physical need to smoke and still don't. Hey, folks. It only takes 72 hours to clear your body of the physical need. The rest is mind power. You can do it.
